Gravure Idol and actress Kumiko Takeda was Tokyo born on August 12, 1968. She began modeling at age 6, became a teen singing idol at 14 after winning a Tokyo beauty pageant and had a series of hits and best-selling albums. Kumiko progressed into acting, appearing in movies and television shows throughout her 20s, while continuing to be one of Japans most popular models. After marrying an American, Kumiko Takeda moved to the US, and gave birth to a daughter in 2002. Although no longer as active in Japan (she is starring in a Japanese mini series drama,Ouroboros, in 2015).
Her popularity remains high, particularly among women in their 30s and 40s. This led to her writing a series of best–selling books on the secrets to staying beautiful and sexy as you age with her fifth book in the series, Being Kumiko Takeda at 43.
